There are three Magisterial Districts in the County, and at the time this picture was taken, there were three school trustees to one district, later the law was changed to one trustee to a district. No. 1 J. Kirk Hannah, Superintendent of Schools from 1897 to 1913. School Trustees as follows: No. 2, Henry Pittman; No. 3, J. F. Dickerson; No. 4, J. C. Jones; No. 5, J. Osborne Davidson; No. 6, Charles E. Lewis; No. 7, John P. Alvis; No. 8, James R. Hamilton; No. 9, S. J. Lee; No. 10, Joel Watkins. J. Osborne Davidson is the oldest trustee in point of service the county has ever had; appointed to the board in 1909, he still holds the office. Of the ten shown in this picture, five have passed away: Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, and 9. |
