Source text:your grandmother's siblings were: (these are the complete names for Aunt Eleanor and Aunt Katherine)
Katherine Watkins Davidson got her name from Aunt Janie Jane Watkins Thornhill the Watkins was a family name of the Thornhills.
Eleanor Stratton Davidson is Eleanor's full name. she was named after her grandmother Thornhill (Eleanor Fetna Webb or Fetna Eleanor) or mom doesn't really know she says. her relatives called her aunt Fet.
some of this is verbatim and in mom's words.
Lily Bibb was named after cousin Will and Cousin Lily Thornhill. Mother lived with them and went to EC Glass High School. "Aunt Elizabeth and Aunt Janie were older than mother so when their mother died, they lived with their granddaddy Thornhill who worked with streetcars in Lynchburg."
the name Bibb came from 4 generations back who lived in Charlottesville and she married a Thornhill. That book has what her name is and mom isn't sure what it actually was.
she, Cousin Lily Thornhill, was Lily Hancock and their daughter was named Lily Bibb and mom was named Lily Bibb because mother was very close to them. Aunt Mary was very close to them and called them aunt and uncle. she was their pet. like Aunt Elizabeth was your grandmother's pet. Eleanor was Mable and Grace's pet. Uncle Sterling's wife thought Tee was great. after mom was grown she said I turned out well since I had been so spoiled.
Mable and Grace sent Eleanor books and paid part of her
they also helped with mom's college bills and because I (mom) majored in science so that was a disappointment to them. Although they did ask Mom to take their cat if the cat died after they did. Mom agreed but the cat died first.
cousin albert couldn't straighten up
Albon Stratton had a son Albon who was a character, may have been retarded. he roamed. no one really knew how he made a living. Taw would occasionally bring him home which upset KateMama (oh Crawford, you're bringing him home?) he was their cousin. He could read but I don't know that he did any work. he didn't venture too far away and always kept in touch with Taw who would give him money. He was a strange person. - Date: 21 Aug 2009
