Dale J. Waters
BOOTJACK - Dale J. Waters of Bootjack died at home in his sleep Saturday, March 22, 2008, surrounded by his family, after a long, brave struggle with lung cancer. He was 76.
Born in Hubbell on November 23, 1931, Dale moved with his family to Detroit as a teenager where he graduated from Cooley High School in 1949, served in the Army National Guard and attended Wayne State University.
After a successful career as a sales representative with the General Motors Truck Division in Pontiac, Dale moved back to the Keweenaw with his wife of 57 years, Dana (Uksila) in the early 1990?s where they enjoyed boating, working with MTU International students, traveling and attending the Calumet Theater.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Gladys Waters and brothers, Harvey ?Toby? and Dean Waters.
Dale is survived by his wife, Dana of Bootjack; daughter, Jan and son-in-law, Brian L. Waters of Laurium and Ashby de la Zouch of England; son, Robert D. Waters of Chassell; son, Brian J. Waters and daughter-in-law, Jane (Soumis) of Chassell; granddaughter, Katrina (Vestal) and husband, Nathan Black; great-grandson, Benedict of Bangor, Maine; brother, Jerry and wife, Betty Waters of Almanor, Calif.; sisters, Marjorie Fagan of Shelby Township, Mich., Judy Stokfisz of Livonia; sisters-in-law, ?Bunny? Waters of St. Augustine, Fla., Annette Waters of Fairfield Glade, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
The Waters family would like to express our heartfelt thanks for the wonderful care provided by Keweenaw Home Nursing and Hospice and the services of Erickson-Crowley Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held during the summer of 2008.
